Cam Richards has taken out the 2025 Capitulo Perfeito at Carcavelos Beach, Portugal.
The surfer from South Carolina beat Noah Beschen, Balaram Stack, and Pedro Calado in the final.
The Portuguese beach break provided a day of punchy, barreling waves for all 16 contenders, with some of the world's best tube-riding specialists pushing the limits of how deep a human can surf inside the green room.
In the end, Richards claimed the top honors, bagging the €25,000 winner's check after entering the event as an alternate.
"I still can't believe I won. Getting an 8.50 was incredible because I fell five times throughout the day trying to exit a barrel like that," said Cam Richards.
"I saw Balaram get a bomb, and I was motivated. I was lucky enough to catch my best wave and right in the final."
"It was really fun to do the final with Balaram and Noah. We flew together from the USA to Portugal."
"It's amazing to be able to participate in an event with friends, without pressure, where the goal is just to get barreled and have fun."

Barrel Fest
With an 8.83 ride in his quarterfinal heat, Miguel Blanco was one of the event's standouts, nabbing the Best Tube and €2,500.
Despite finishing fourth in the final, Pedro Calado won the Ricardo dos Santos Commitment Award, displaying unmatchable fierceness and consistency throughout the competition.
Between the semis and the final, Yolanda Hopkins stood out as the winner of the unprecedented Special Women Heat, the first-ever all-female duel in the history of the annual event.
Just a few days away from the end of the waiting period, Capitulo Perfeito hit the water in epic conditions, with eight-foot sets storming across Carcavelos Beach throughout the day.
A crowd of 20,000 people gathering on the beach, as well as thousands of surf fans watching worldwide via live broadcast, were treated to some stellar tube-riding performances in heavy A-frames.
This is why Carcavelos is considered to be one of the best beach breaks in Europe when it turns on.
Apart from the competitors mentioned above, Bruno Santos, Craig Anderson, Guilherme Fonseca, João Guedes, Joel Parkinson, Lucas Chianca, Nic von Rupp, Pedro Boonman, Santiago Graça, Tiago Stock and Victor Bernardo also took part in the competition.
Another major highlight of the day was Tiago Pires, who was honored by the organizers of the Capítulo Perfeito.
Winner of the first edition and one of the surfers with the most appearances in the event, "Saca" highlighted his special connection to this unique barrel-riding competition.
"I embraced Capítulo Perfeito from the very beginning when Rui Costa first told me about the idea of organizing a barrel-only competition 12 years ago," noted Pires.
Surfers live for barrels - it's what excites us the most, so it had everything to succeed. Today, it's an established international project, one of the most anticipated and well-known competitions in the world."
"For me, this is a farewell to Capítulo Perfeito as a competitor, but I will continue to support the surfers as long as this competition lasts."
A final honorable mention goes to Balaram Stack, who, by reaching the last heat of the event for the fourth time, became the record holder for most final appearances at the Capítulo Perfeito.
