Companhias aéreas cancelam 2 mil voos nos EUA neste sábado por tempestade de inverno

Reuters Empresas aéreas cancelaram aproximadamente 2 mil voos nos Estados Unidos até a manhã deste sábado, após uma forte tempestade de inverno prejudicar as operações de aeroportos no país e frustrar planos de milhares de viajantes.  Os voos atrasados, para dentro ou fora dos EUA, totalizavam cerca de 4 mil na manhã deste sábado, de acordo com o site de rastreamento FlightAware. O site mostrou que o total de cancelamentos nos EUA estava em torno de 2 mil. Os cancelamentos de voos na manhã deste sábado incluíram mais de 450 da Southwest Airlines e quase 400 da Delta Air Lines. As interrupções nos voos ocorrem em meio a tempestade ártica que atinge grande parte dos Estados Unidos neste sábado, causando quedas de energia e acidentes em estradas. O declínio das temperaturas deve produzir a véspera de Natal mais fria já registrada em várias cidades norte-americanas, da Pensilvânia à Geórgia. As temperaturas estão previstas para alcançar neste sábado até -13ºC em Pittsburgh, superando a máxima mais fria de todos os tempos para uma véspera de Natal, estabelecida em 1983, de -10ºC, disse o serviço de meteorologia do país.
