EUA deixarão de exigir teste de Covid para passageiros que chegam ao país de avião

O relaxamento foi autorizado após uma forte pressão das companhias aéreas e da indústria de viagens. O governo do presidente Joe Biden anunciará ainda nesta sexta-feira que o Centro de Controle e Prevenção de Doenças (CDC) não exigirá mais testes de Covid-19 antes da partida para passageiros a caminho dos Estados Unidos, depois de ter determinado, com base na ciência e em dados, que esta exigência não é mais necessária. O CDC fará uma reavaliação desta decisão em 90 dias, disse a autoridade. Desde dezembro, o CDC exige que os viajantes tenham testes negativos de Covid-19 dentro de um dia antes dos voos para os Estados Unidos, mas não exige testes para passagens de fronteira terrestres. “Se houver necessidade de restabelecer uma exigência de teste antes da partida –inclusive devido a uma nova variante– o CDC não hesitará em agir”, afirmou. O presidente-executivo da American Airlines, Robert Isom, disse na semana passada em uma conferência que as exigências de testes eram “sem sentido” e estavam afetando as viagens de lazer e negócios. Em dezembro, o CDC apertou os requisitos para que os viajantes aéreos internacionais obtenham um teste negativo de Covid um dia antes do voo, em vez de três dias antes da chegada aos Estados Unidos. “O CDC fará uma reavaliação dessa decisão em 90 dias e, como em outras políticas, o CDC continuará a avaliá-la continuamente”, disse um alto funcionário do governo americano.
