O provedor suiço Twifi lançou uma promoção nas redes sociais oferecendo internet grátis por 18 anos para os pais que colocassem o nome de Twifia ou Twifius no bebê recém-nascido. O estranho anúncio não demorou muito para ter a resposta de um casal que cumpriu as regras e vai ter conexão sem pagar nada até a filha ser maior de idade.

O casal que foi anunciado como os primeiros premiados escolheram para a filha um nome composto e só o terceiro nome é Twifia. A certidão de nascimento foi enviada para a empresa para comprovar o cumprimento das regras estabelecidas pela promoção.

Por conta da polêmica envolvendo o nome escolhido para a criança, nem os pais e nem o bebê tiveram a identidade revelada.  “Queremos permanecer anônimos para aqueles que estão ao nosso redor porque não queremos nos justificar. Porque a acusação de ter vendido o nome de nosso filho nos atinge muito. Também estamos um pouco envergonhados”, disse o casal ao site australiano Kidspot.

O pai não considera que foi uma decisão errada, apesar da mãe ter sido resistente à ideia. “Existem nomes piores. E quanto mais nós dizemos 'Twifia’, mais sonoro o nome fica”, disse o rapaz. 

Os dois pretende guardar o valor que seria gasto na contratação de um plano de internet residencial para dar o dinheiro de presente para a filha no aniversário de 18 anos, o que vai acontecer só em 2038.

O presidente da Twifi, Philippe Fotsch, se comprometeu a garantir que a família tenha acesso à internet até o fim do período estipulado por uma questão de “honra”. Ou seja, mesmo se a empresa falir ou for vendida, o Wi-Fi não será desligado ou cobrado.
