A Huawei deve responder, na quinta-feira (10), à última rodada de restrições de tecnologia dos Estados Unidos contra a empresa e compartilhar seu progresso no desenvolvimento de um sistema operacional que é visto como sua melhor aposta para substituir o Android do Google.

Em agosto, os Estados Unidos ampliaram as restrições anteriores com o objetivo de impedir que a Huawei obtivesse semicondutores sem uma licença especial - incluindo chips feitos por empresas estrangeiras que foram desenvolvidos ou produzidos com software e tecnologia norte-americana.

Analistas disseram que as restrições ameaçam a posição da Huawei como a maior fabricante de smartphones do mundo, e que seu negócio de smartphones desapareceria completamente se ela não conseguisse fornecimento dos componentes.

A Huawei também revelará seu progresso no desenvolvimento de seu sistema operacional Harmony, que é anunciado como uma plataforma para vários dispositivos, como smartwatches, notebooks e celulares. A empresa anunciou o sistema na conferência de desenvolvedores do ano passado.

A adição da Huawei à lista negra de comércio dos EUA em maio do ano passado impediu o Google de fornecer suporte técnico para novos modelos smartphones da Huawei que utilizam Android, e para o Google Mobile Services (GMS), o pacote de serviços no qual a maioria dos aplicativos do sistema operacional são baseados.

A empresa deve se concentrar em usar o HarmonyOS em dispositivos que podem ser utilizados pelos usuários como peças ou acessórios do vestuário e smartscreens, em vez de no negócio de smartphones que está sendo fortemente afetado pela ação dos EUA, disse Will Wong, analista da consultoria IDC.

A Huawei não vai querer apresentar o HarmonyOS como uma alternativa genuína ao Google antes das eleições nos Estados Unidos em novembro, na esperança de recuperar o acesso ao Google depois disso, disse ele.
