As ações da Apple caíram 8% nesta quinta-feira (3), em um dia de forte baixa dos índices das empresas de tecnologia. Em números absolutos, a companhia perdeu US$ 180 bilhões (R$ 952 bilhões).

O número representa a maior perda sofrida por uma empresa em um único dia, mas a Apple se mantém acima dos US$ 2 trilhões (R$ 10,58 trilhões) de valor de mercado. Apesar da queda recorde, a companhia é considerada sólida por investidores de todo o mundo.

Anteriormente, em março, tanto a Apple quanto a Microsoft já haviam sofrido perdas recordistas, da ordem de US$ 150 bilhões (R$ 794 bilhões).

Os principais índices de Wall Street também fecharam em forte queda nesta quinta-feira, marcando suas baixas mais intensas desde junho, causada por investidores que se desfizeram de papéis do setor de tecnologia em alta, enquanto dados econômicos destacaram preocupações sobre uma recuperação longa e difícil.

O Nasdaq, concentrado em tecnologia, liderou as quedas em dia de forte volume. O índice recuou 4,96%, depois de na véspera, junto com o S&P 500, fechar em novo recorde.

Os maiores obstáculos ao Nasdaq vieram dos pesos pesados ​​Apple, Microsoft, Amazon.com, Tesla e Nvidia.

Os mercados vinham em ritmo acelerado desde março, impulsionados por apoio fiscal e monetário e pela esperança de uma rápida recuperação econômica. “Olhando para os dados de hoje, o mercado teve a capacidade ir para cima (em dias anteriores) e não prestou atenção a um macroambiente que, sim, está melhorando, o que é encorajador, mas a economia continua frágil aqui”, acrescentou ela.

O índice Dow Jones caiu 2,78%, a 28.293 pontos, enquanto o S&P 500 perdeu 3,512584%, a 3.455 pontos. O índice de tecnologia Nasdaq recuou 4,96%, a 11.458 pontos.

O índice VIX, um termômetro do “medo” de Wall Street, cruzou sua média móvel de 200 dias e alcançou o nível mais alto em semanas. O índice saltou 7 pontos, a 33,60.
