Trump assina ordens para proibir TikTok e WeChat nos EUA

O presidente Donald Trump assinou nesta quinta-feira (6) ordens executivas para proibir a operação nos Estados Unidos dos aplicativos chineses TikTok e WeChat por 45 dias caso não sejam vendidos para empresas estadunidenses.

Em relação ao TikTok, a ordem determina a proibição de “qualquer transação por qualquer pessoa, ou com relação a qualquer propriedade, sujeita à jurisdição dos Estados Unidos, com a ByteDance Ltda.”, empresa chinesa dona da plataforma de vídeos curtos.

Na última sexta-feira, Trump disse que iria usar seus poderes econômicos de emergência ou uma ordem executiva para banir o aplicativo dos Estados Unidos.

A decisão desta quinta-feira aumenta a pressão para a possível venda do TikTok para uma empresa estadunidense. A Microsoft, uma das interessadas, afirmou que as negociações estão avançando.

Trump ja havia afirmado que qualquer negociação envolvendo o aplicativo deveria incluir uma quantidade “substancial de dinheiro” ao Tesouro do pais. No entanto, a ordem assinada nesta quinta-feira não tem esse dispositivo.

O documento alega que o TikTok “captura automaticamente vastas faixas de informações de seus usuários”, como dados de localização e históricos de navegação e pesquisa, que “ameaça permitir ao Partido Comunista Chinês acesso às informações pessoais e proprietárias dos americanos - potencialmente permitindo que a China rastreie a localização de funcionários e empreiteiros federais, construa dossiês de informações pessoais para chantagem e conduza espionagem corporativa”.

WeChat

O republicano emitiu ainda ordem semelhante ao WeChat, aplicativo de conversa, concorrente do WhatsApp, desenvolvido para companhia chinesa Tecent. O aplicativo também permite que os usuários transfiram fundos uns para os outros.
