Queixas do Facebook e da Microsoft sobre a maneira que seus jogos para dispositivos móveis aparecem na App Store, da Apple, podem alimentar uma investigação da União Europeia sobre os negócios da criadora do iPhone.

Em junho, a Comissão Europeia abriu quatro investigações sobre a Apple, três relacionadas à App Store e suas regras restritivas, incluindo exigência para que os desenvolvedores usem o sistema de pagamentos da Apple para compras dentro dos aplicativos.

As gigantes da tecnologia dos EUA, Facebook e Microsoft, são as empresas mais recentes a expressar preocupações sobre as regras da Apple, que geraram críticas de desenvolvedores de aplicativos, que afirmam que elas criam um ambiente desigual de competição.

Questionada sobre as queixas, a porta-voz da Comissão Arianna Podesta disse em comunicado: “A Comissão está ciente dessas preocupações em relação às regras da App Store da Apple”, mas não forneceu mais detalhes.

A Apple rejeitou as críticas às regras da App Store, dizendo que todos os aplicativos são analisados de acordo com o mesmo conjunto de diretrizes cujo objetivo é proteger os clientes e fornecer um ambiente justo e nivelado para os desenvolvedores.

O Facebook disse na semana passada que seu aplicativo de jogos estava disponível apenas na App Store da Apple como um serviço de streaming e que os usuários não conseguem jogar através dele.

A vice-presidente de operações do Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg, disse que a empresa teve que remover totalmente a funcionalidade de jogos para garantir a aprovação da Apple para seu aplicativo Facebook Gaming.

A Microsoft, que tem um serviço de streaming de jogos chamado Project xCloud, disse: “A Apple é a única plataforma de propósito geral que impede os consumidores de jogos em nuvem e serviços de assinatura de jogos como o Xbox Game Pass.”

“Ela trata os aplicativos de jogos de maneira diferente, aplicando regras mais brandas aos aplicativos que não são de jogos, mesmo quando eles incluem conteúdo interativo”, acrescentou em um comunicado enviado por email.
