O investidor Zhu Haifeng reduziu pela metade suas participações nas gigantes chinesas da tecnologia Tencent e Alibaba, depois que os Estados Unidos anunciaram na sexta-feira (7) sanções contra algumas empresas do país na mais recente escalada das tensões entre as duas principais economias do mundo.

A mudança ocorreu após o anúncio do presidente Donald Trump de uma proibição total das transações norte-americanas com a Tencent, proprietária do aplicativo de mensagens WeChat, e com a Bytedance, proprietária do TikTok, citando ameaças à segurança nacional.

A Tencent agora representa apenas 10% de seu portfólio, tendo respondido por 40% no pico de suas compras na empresa, que começaram há cerca de cinco anos. A gigante do comércio eletrônico Alibaba Group Holding agora representa 5% de sua carteira.

“Eu estava imaginando uma Tencent global, uma Alibaba global. Agora, só consigo pensar nas versões do sudeste asiático”, disse Zhu, que possui vários milhões de iuanes alocados em empresas chinesas listadas no exterior.

Como outros investidores, ele teme que a decisão de Washington de restringir as empresas de tecnologia do continente possa limitar seu potencial de crescimento.

Essa preocupação fez com que as ações da Tencent e da Alibaba caíssem cerca de 5% cada na última sexta-feira, mas ainda estavam em alta de cerca de 39% e 17%, respectivamente, neste ano.

“Fundamentalmente, não é um grande choque para os lucros. Mas agora, acho que o mercado ainda está tentando digerir essas informações por causa do cenário político”, disse Paul Sandhu, chefe de soluções quânticas de múltiplos ativos da região Ásia-Pacífico no BNP Paribas.

O Morgan Stanley disse que há um risco “significativamente amplo” para as empresas chinesas.

“A globalização é um dos principais motores de crescimento para as ações de empresas chinesas de internet, à medida que o crescimento do usuário desacelera e a competição se intensifica na China”, escreveu o Morgan Stanley.
