Facebook remove centenas de grupos da conspiração 'QAnon'

O Facebook disse nesta quarta-feira (19) que removeu quase 800 grupos da teoria da conspiração “QAnon” que fizeram publicações que exaltam a violência, mostram intenção de usar armas ou atraem seguidores com padrões de comportamento violento, expandindo atuação sobre grupos que a empresa acredita representar riscos para a segurança pública.

A maior rede social do mundo também impôs algumas restrições aos 1.950 grupos QAnon públicos e privados restantes que encontrou, deixando de recomendá-los aos usuários e tornando-os menos propensos a serem descobertos em pesquisas dos usuários.

Pelo menos centenas de milhares de usuários do Facebook pertencem a um ou mais grupos QAnon. A empresa não informou números precisos.

As conspirações QAnon começaram na sequência da falsa conspiração “pizzagate”, que antes das eleições presidenciais dos EUA de 2016, alegava que proeminentes representantes do Partido Democrata estavam comandando uma rede de pedofilia no porão de uma pizzaria em Washington.

A teoria se concentra em publicações anônimas de alguém que usa o apelido “Q”, que afirma ser uma autoridade de alto escalão do governo de Donald Trump. “Q” e seus partidários idolatram Trump e afirmam que as elites democratas e de Hollywood adoram o diabo, comem crianças e, em alguns casos, já foram executados em tribunais militares secretos e substituídos por atores. O FBI o identificou como potencial fonte de violência doméstica, e crimes como assassinatos e sequestros foram cometidos por seus seguidores.

O fenômeno em torno de “Q” continua crescendo, principalmente nas redes sociais, ao incentivar curiosos a fazerem suas próprias “pesquisas” sobre o tema. Os algoritmos do Facebook e de outras plataformas de mídia social recompensam esse envolvimento, direcionando outros usuários para esses grupos.
