Covid-19: App monitora sintomas e indica 6 diferentes infecções

Cientistas britânicos que analisam dados de um aplicativo amplamente utilizado de monitoramento de sintomas covid-19 descobriram que existem seis tipos distintos da doença, cada um deles diferenciado por um conjunto de sintomas.

Uma equipe do King’s College London descobriu que os seis tipos também se correlacionavam com os níveis de gravidade da infecção e com a probabilidade de um paciente precisar de auxílio para respirar - como o uso de um respirador - se forem hospitalizados.

As descobertas podem ajudar os médicos a prever quais pacientes com Covid-19 estão mais em risco e provavelmente precisarão de cuidados hospitalares em futuras ondas da epidemia.

“Se você puder prever quem são essas pessoas no quinto dia, terá tempo para ajudar e fazer intervenções mais cedo, como monitorar os níveis de oxigênio e açúcar no sangue e garantir que eles estejam adequadamente hidratados”, disse Claire Steves, médica que co-liderou o estudo.

Além de tosse, febre e perda de olfato - geralmente destacados como três sintomas principais de Covid-19 - os dados do aplicativo mostraram outros, incluindo dores de cabeça, dores musculares, fadiga, diarreia, confusão, perda de apetite e falta de ar.

Os resultados também variaram significativamente; alguns apresentaram sintomas leves como gripe ou erupções cutâneas e outros sofreram sintomas mais graves ou morreram.

O estudo, divulgado online nesta sexta-feira, mas não revisado por cientistas independentes, descreveu os seis tipos de Covid-19 como:

1- Gripe sem febre: dor de cabeça, perda de olfato, dores musculares, tosse, dor de garganta, dor no peito, sem febre.

2- Gripe com febre: dor de cabeça, perda de olfato, tosse, dor de garganta, rouquidão, febre, perda de apetite.

3- Gastrointestinal: dor de cabeça, perda de olfato, perda de apetite, diarreia, dor de garganta, dor no peito, sem tosse.

4- Grave nível um, fadiga: dor de cabeça, perda de olfato, tosse, febre, rouquidão, dor no peito, fadiga.

5- Grave nível dois, confusão: dor de cabeça, perda de olfato, perda de apetite, tosse, febre, rouquidão, dor de garganta, dor no peito, fadiga, confusão, dor muscular.

6- Grave nível três, abdominal e respiratório: dor de cabeça, perda de olfato, perda de apetite, tosse, febre, rouquidão, dor de garganta, dor no peito, fadiga, confusão, dor muscular, falta de ar, diarreia, dor abdominal.

Pacientes com os tipos graves - quatro, cinco e seis - têm maior probabilidade de serem internados e são mais propensos a precisar de suporte respiratório, disseram os pesquisadores.
