O setor de games da América Latina deverá crescer 10,3% em 2020 na comparação anual, gerando 6 bilhões de dólares em receita, apontou relatório da empresa de pesquisa Newzoo divulgado nesta quinta-feira (25), também prevendo que o faturamento do segmento deve chegar a 8 bilhões de dólares até 2023.

A América Latina é a região com o segundo maior crescimento esperado para este ano, atrás apenas da região composta por Oriente Médio e África (+14,5%), porém ainda representa apenas 4% da receita total esperada de 159 bilhões de dólares no mundo, uma alta de 9,3% ante 2019, segundo o relatório.

De acordo com o relatório, que abrange dados de jogos para computadores, consoles e smartphones, as medidas de isolamento social causadas pela pandemia de coronavírus tiveram um impacto significativo na expansão do setor, com as pessoas jogando mais enquanto permanecem em suas casas.

“O mundo dos jogos não está apenas substituindo as redes sociais, também está provando ser uma alternativa viável aos eventos da vida real, especialmente durante o período do Covid-19”, afirmou a Newzoo.

Segundo a empresa, a América Latina chegará a 266 milhões de pessoas que jogam em alguma das plataformas este ano, o que representa cerca de 10% do total de jogadores no mundo. Tal número supera os 210 milhões esperados para a América do Norte, mas indica o que os jogadores da região gastam muito menos, uma vez que o continente norte-americano deverá gerar 40 bilhões de dólares em receita este ano, alta de 8,5% ante 2019.

“Muitos jogadores nestes mercados emergentes estão começando a jogar em seus celulares, cujo modelo de monetização ‘free-to-play’ torna notoriamente difícil converter jogadores em pagadores”, informou a Newzoo. Do total de jogadores na América Latina estimados para 2020, a empresa calcula que apenas 160 milhões devem pagar pelos jogos.
