Microsoft rompe com youtuber que ironizou atos contra racismo

Após o canal “Xbox Mil Grau” ironizar os protestos contra o racismo no último fim de semana, nos Estados Unidos, a Microsoft anunciou na noite da última terça-feira (2) que rompeu com o canal no YouTube por discordar do conteúdo publicado. A plataforma do console de videogames considerou que a atitude do influenciador que administra o canal foi contra os valores de “respeito, diversidade e inclusão”.

Enquanto manifestantes protestavam contra atos racistas após a morte de George Floyd, um homem negro morto asfixiado por um policial branco, o influenciador identificado nas redes sociais como @xcapim360 postou uma imagem com conteúdo preconceituoso. De um lado, a mensagem “o que negros estão fazendo hoje” e, de outro, “o que brancos estão fazendo hoje”, sobre a imagem dos astronautas da SpaceX, na nave Crew Dragon.

“O conteúdo da conta Mil Grau não reflete nossos valores fundamentais de respeito, diversidade e inclusão. Nós já exigimos a remoção imediata da nossa marca dos seus canais, por meio das empresas de redes sociais”, disse a empresa em comunicado.

“A Microsoft tem como valores fundamentais: respeito, diversidade e inclusão, que são pilares de nossa cultura. Repudiamos todo e quaisquer atos de discriminação e violência que firam esses princípios”, completa a nota.

A decisão da empresa foi baseada também na desaprovação de usuários que rapidamente passaram a denunciar o conteúdo  nas redes sociais. O canal, que existe desde 2011 e tem 173 mil seguidores, ficou conhecido por mostrar conteúdos relevantes do console da Microsoft, na concorrência contra a Sony, dos consoles PlayStation.

Em recente postagem, o perfil @xcapim360 criticou as denúncias contra o canal, alegando ser um complô em favor da Playstation.

“Querem tirar patrocínios e a fonte de trabalho”, escreveu. “Essas são as pessoas que estão nos imputando como racistas por causa de um MEME! Será que realmente estão preocupados com a causa ou a questão é pessoal?”
