Latam Airlines anuncia suspensão das operações da filial Argentina por coronavírus

Em maio, o grupo Latam Airlines e suas afiliadas no Chile, Peru, Colômbia, Equador e Estados Unidos entraram com pedido de recuperação judicial nos EUA. A companhia aérea chileno-brasileira Latam anunciou nesta quarta-feira (17) que sua filial na Argentina suspenderá as operações por tempo indeterminado, já que diante do cenário da pandemia mantê-las não parece algo viável. “A suspensão das operações da Latam Airlines Argentina, por tempo indeterminado, obedece as atuais condições da indústria local, agravadas pela pandemia da Covid-19, logo não se percebe a viabilidade de um projeto sustentável”, indicou em comunicado a companhia, a maior da América Latina, fortemente atingida pela pandemia. A companhia informou que os passageiros que tenham adquirido bilhetes para rotas dentro da Argentina terão o valor restituído automaticamente caso a compra tenha sido feita com cartão de crédito. Para pagamentos feitos em outras formas, o passageiro deverá requerer a devolução pelo site latam.com/administratuviaje. Passagens compradas para rotas internacionais poderão ter suas datas trocadas sem custo nem diferença de tarifa. Os passageiros ambém poderão solicitar um voucher para ser utilizado até 31 de dezembro de 2021 em qualquer rota da Latam. Recuperação judicial Em maio, o grupo Latam Airlines e suas afiliadas no Chile, Peru, Colômbia, Equador e Estados Unidos entraram com pedido de recuperação judicial nos Estados Unidos em razão dos impactos da crise do coronavírus nas operações da companhia. O valor total da dívida a ser reestruturada é de US$ 14,9 bilhões. As subsidiárias do grupo no Brasil, Argentina e Paraguai não estão envolvidas no processo de reestruturação de dívida sob a proteção do Capítulo 11 da lei de falências dos Estados Unidos, que permite um prazo para que as empresas se reorganizem financeiramente.
