O abuso sexual online de crianças na União Europeia aumentou durante a pandemia de Covid-19, disse a chefe da agência Europol nesta segunda-feira (18), Ela alerta que mais casos poderão surgir quando as escolas reabrirem e o monitoramento dos professores for retomado.

“O mais preocupante é o aumento da atividade online de quem busca material sobre abuso sexual infantil”, disse Catherine De Bolle, diretora da Europol, em audiência no Parlamento da UE.

De Bolle, ex-chefe da polícia belga, disse que o aumento das atividades pedófilas foi relatado pelas autoridades policiais nacionais dos 27 países da UE que viram um maior acesso a sites ilegais e fecharam mais plataformas online destinadas ao compartilhamento de conteúdo pornográfico infantil.

Segundo a diretora, os investigadores da Europol também interceptaram criminosos alegando que possuem acesso mais fácil a crianças em conversas na dark web, uma parte da internet que é acessível apenas com um software específico.

Os agressores sexuais estão tentando explorar a crescente exposição das crianças à web, pois durante o isolamento elas começam a ter aulas online, às vezes através de plataformas que não são adequadamente protegidas, disse De Bolle.

“Esperamos ter uma visão maior e melhor da situação em que as crianças poderão frequentar a escola novamente e terão a possibilidade de conversar com os professores”, disse De Bolle aos parlamentares.

Em muitos países europeus, as escolas ainda estão fechadas para conter a pandemia.

As linhas diretas para denunciar abusos também receberam mais ligações neste período, disse De Bolle. Em março, esses alertas subiram na Espanha a um nível recorde para essa época do ano, mostrou um relatório da Europol.

“Usar a internet para explorar sexualmente crianças hoje é mais fácil do que nunca”, disse a ECPAT, uma rede de organizações da sociedade civil contra a exploração sexual comercial de crianças.

Também acrescentou que agora é mais fácil para pedófilos entrarem em contato com crianças e encontrarem criminosos com pensamentos semelhantes", o que também facilita o acesso, o download, a produção e o compartilhamento de material de abuso sexual infantil".
